1986 Capri 22 Fin Keel, Standard Rig “Runnoft”
History: This Capri originated in Florida and now sails on Long Island Sound. It is believed she was wet sailed for about the first 5 or 6 years, sat on a trailer until about 2001 when a dealer bought her to use as a trainer. She then hung around in a lift unused, including during the hurricanes that hit Florida in 2004, until purchased by the previous owner 2005. I acquired her September 2007.
During the 2004 storms she suffered some minor stress related damage to the hull and transom, a bent up bow pulpit and developed a couple of odd stress cracks on the deck. Previous owner did a couple of quick repairs on the decks. Additionally, the previous owner did extensive refurbishing the hull and blister repair. Blisters were ground out and re-glassed, the bottom was re-faired, and 5 coats of epoxy barrier coat was applied. Since then, after four seasons of extensive sailing, there has been no indication of additional or recurring blistering. The hull is solid fiber glass and the deck is glassed plywood.
Enhancement/repairs performed since I purchased her in 2007 are as follows:
· All interior teak, bulkheads and decorative elements removed and refinished with high gloss varnish 2009.
· All exterior teak completely replaced including companionway trim 2009.
· Old vinyl ceiling removed and replaced with marine headliner material (light weight non woven) 2010.
· Cabin floor board replaced with varnished mahogany. Covering boards for under seat storage painted with linear polyurethane 2008.
· Cushions completely replaced 2008
· New roller furler system 2010
